Garrett's ire skyrocketed so fast he saw stars. Just like she knew it would. The scene was played to orchestral perfection. Each line delivered with just the right pause. Just the right inflection. The man's expression full of menace. Hers full of fear, yet her chin lifted in defiance.

Garrett had been played like a heated game of Monopoly. (p.22)

  1. Hi Laura,

This probably isn't a book for me, despite the intriguing extracts you shared today. The series is far too firmly entrenched for me to break in, although I love the amazing cover art.

I checked Darynda out on 'Fantastic Fiction' a site I find really useful for putting books into series and chronological order, and I see that there is another book in the '1001 Dark Nights' series due out next year.

I must admit that I was a bit confused about the sudden change in cover art strategy so far into an established series, but perhaps, not having read any of the books, there is something I am fundamentally missing! See what you think...

    1. Yvonne,
The change in cover art is because the two novellas while they are part of the Charley Davidson world, are part of the 1001 Dark Nights series which has many different authors.
Thanks for coming by and checking it out and for sharing that site.
